Mobi by wwf est une application gratuite pour smartphone qui permet de référencer vos observations de mammifères marins (dauphins, baleines, dugongs...) en Nouvelle-Calédonie et Polynésie française de façon simple et immédiate.
En utilisant Mobi by wwf vous contribuez à un projet de science participative ayant pour but d’accroitre les connaissances sur la diversité et la distribution des baleines, dauphins et autres mammifères marins en Océanie, lesquelles sont nécessaires à une meilleure gestion et conservation des populations.Il n’est pas nécessaire d’être connecté à internet pour enregistrer son observation, ce qui permet de le faire directement en mer dès qu’un animal est aperçu.
En quelques clics, l’application permet d’identifier l’espèce grâce à une description et une illustration graphique, d’indiquer manuellement ou automatiquement via le GPS de l’appareil le lieu de l’observation, d’indiquer le nombre d’animaux présents et de télécharger des photos.
Les photos ne sont pas obligatoires mais elles sont un vrai « plus » car elles peuvent confirmer une identification avec certitude.
Le rapport est ensuite envoyé automatiquement sur une base de données, lors de la prochaine connexion du smartphone à internet.

The report is then automatically sent to a database the next time the smartphone connects to the internet.
